“Belonging turns classrooms from places where students attend into spaces where they participate.”
Welcome to The Common Thread, an edublog exploring diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in schools.
This space is grounded in a simple belief: belonging sits at the heart of meaningful education. When learners feel that they belong, everything shifts, they show up, they engage, and they begin to thrive.
Each post is designed to offer practical, thoughtful ways educators can strengthen that sense of belonging in their classrooms and communities. Not as a definitive guide, but as part of an ongoing conversation.
I don’t claim to have all the answers. This work is complex, evolving, and deeply human. But it is something I have spent years exploring, including through my Master’s research, and something I care deeply about.
If this blog does anything, I hope it encourages reflection, sparks ideas, and supports small, intentional changes—because those are often where the most meaningful impact begins.
